You're Nobunny Till Somebunny Loves You.

I love the way the light shines through the ears of this bunny at Pulpit Rock Park.

The sun was low, and the light was right. Adding to the whimsey I painted the background similar to crayons.

Windy

My beloved sister passed away some years ago. This is how she looked when she was about thirty years old.

White Horse 10

My friends and I went to the paint mines near Calhan. we got a lot of cool photos on the way home. This horse is located near Ellicott.

White Horse

This is another of a series of this horse that I have painted many times. This portrait close up is my new favorite. He (or she) came from a group of dude ranch horses near Craig Colorado. I love the light and I just want to stroke the velvety nose.

Union Pacific

This train was dry-docked in the desert near Palasade Colorado a few years ago. It'was wierd to see a train out there going nowhere.

Uncompahgre River

This beautiful green river is a major attraction in Ouray Colorado. Unfortunately, that beautiful green is from mining waste.

Superstition shadows

I have spent a lot of time in southern Arizona. The Superstition Mountains have intrigued me. This plant is Teddy Bear Cholla.

Summer Walk

This is from our neighborhood walk. The sky and the light were just right making an ordinary house very pretty.

Snuggie

A commission portrait. This beautiful sorell mare was a joy to paint. (not for sale)

Santa Fe Winter (sold)

Coming home from Tucson on New Years eve a few years ago there was a massive snow storm, so we decided to spend the night in Santa Fe. The full moon was amazing. I have never seen a painting of a freeway before. A note of interest, Going to the car the next morning, I slipped on Ice and fractured my wrist. Luckily it was my left wrist as I'm right handed. I have since learned when you know you are going to fall, just go for it. Falling on ones fanny is much less likely to cause damage than trying to break the fall with the outstreched arm.

Repose

This young woman waited on us at the Little Nepal Restaurant a few years ago. I thought she was pretty and asked her to model.

Pout

This was a commissioned portrait. The reference provided was a black and white photo about two inches square. Whew! what a challenge.

Pomeranian

This adorable little pooch was a commissioned portrait.

Oak Creek Canyon

This scene is on the road between Flagstaff Arizona and Sedona. The road follows Oak Creek it's a nice break from the busy interstate. Sedona of course is one of the most scenic places in America.

Moab Morning

The west is filled with beautiful places with the area near Moab Utah being among the best.

Lilacs

When I was growing up on a dairy farm on the prairie it was pretty asture but here was a lilac bush outside my bedroom window. For about two weeks it would fill my head with thoughts of summertime and better things to come.

I took a workshop in Rigby Idaho from the great painter Ovanes Berberian. He supervised this painting.

Julie Penrose

Julie was a woman who knew what she wanted and usually got it. Much of it she gave away or shared with the community. What a great lady! There was a little black and white photo in the Gazette which I used as my reference. I hope her eyes were blue since I painted them that wasy.

I Am A Rock

Some rocks look like people or animals if the light is in the right position, and you use your imagination. This one looks like an owl or a grumpy gnome. You choose!

George Washington

I named this piece "The Value of the Dollar" because at the time I painted it gold was around $1400 an ounce. I calculated the value of the dollar based on a $20 gold piece. If I'm wrong please correct me. This was painted with acrylic and india ink. Pretty accurate even if I do say so.  :^ )

Edna Mae

My sister when she was young.

Eagle Rock Canyon

This scene is from Pulpit Rock Open Space. The canyon is mostly hidden from view and is home to many critters. Some of them you wouldn't want to meet on a solo walk. This painting is sold.

Eagle Rock

This Rock formation is near Pulpit Rock very near the Heller Center for the Arts. It is painted on a wood panel with acrylic. The colors are much nicer in person. This one needs to be viewed live.

Douglas County

The rock formations near Castle Rock are interesting. Many of them have a face of an animal.

Dog Tired

This little West Highland Terrier belonged to my brother. She was my favorite model. It is sold.

DeAnna Heimsoth

DeAnna

My daughter in law.

She has spectacular red hair plus natural curls.

Catalina Mountains

We rolled into Tucson a few years ago on Christmas Eve, just before sunset. Everything was golden. It was enchanting and I felt like I was home!

Cactus Flower

A scene from north of Phoenix on a fine spring day.

Buckskin

This beautiful buckskin horse is from a pasture near Kearney Nebraska.  Buckskins are beautiful! He was fun to paint.

Brothers

This is a dual portrait of my brothers. I particularly like the lighting.

Blue Heron

We were on a trip near Craig Colorado a few years ago when we saw this lovely creek.

Best at Dusk

The name refers to the light of course which is the good version of "five o'clock shadow".  This painting is from Pulpit Rock Park.

Bella

My Granddaughter.  A real cutie!

Behold A White Horse

We were scouting for Elk near Craig Colorado on an unpaved road when our path was blocked by a bunch of horses. I got out to shoo them off the road and they just mobbed me (probably looking for sugar cubes). I couldn't resist them at this point and grabbed my camera. They were happy to pose. I loved the white one and painted three versions of this horse. The first two are sold. Overall I painted around a half dozen of the other horses. They were dude ranch horses and very gentle.

Behold A Pale Horse

This horse seems to float in midair as in a dream.

Antelope

I got off my typical realistic style on this one. It's a little more painterly than some. This group of antelope was near Falcon off Woodmen road.

Afternoon Nap

My late brother in law and his wife adopted two Maltese Terriers. These were the most loving dogs, they were always in someones lap or sharing a chair. In this case it was a chaise lounge on their patio in Goodyear Arizona.
